Creating this space in order to share my thoughts and my training in physical therapy, I hope that I can help you on your path as you learn how and why your body feels the way it does. I have been a physical therapist since 1992 and have focused on helping people with muscle, bone and joint issues. I have completed somewhere in the range of 145,000 treatments. With that amount of treatments, I have seen patterns of movement, patterns of muscle activation, and patterns of breathing that I think impact our ability to move well and feel good.
Recently, I finished my 200 hour yoga teacher training with Michelle Young at My Vinyasa Practice. I started my training in June 2020 because, like so many during the Pandemic, I started looking for a new way of being and living. This training has pushed my boundaries, improved my understanding and opened my heart to new ways of seeing the world. Since I have no direct ancestral lineage associated with yoga, I will forever be a student honoring what the teachings reveal to me.
My goal here is to create a more equitable, accessible practice of healing that combines not only my background with a scientific evidence-based physical therapy practice, but also Eastern philosophy-based practice of the 8 limbs of yoga, meditation and creating ritual. I hope that through this lens, we can navigate our lives with more ease, more flow, more understanding, and less pain.
I look forward to connecting with you and over time, I hope to broaden the scope of this space.
